Horowitz’s delusions part 2

Far-right commentator Daniel Horowitz continues to make bizarre and factually inaccurate claims. In 2019, he claimed that Texas congresswoman Kay Granger, who represents the state’s twelfth district, is a RINO( Republican in name only) because she helped negotiate and pass legislation that funded “Planned Parenthood but not ICE or the border wall”. This claim is factually inaccurate. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2019, which Kay Granger helped negotiate along with Democrat Representative Nita Lowry of New York’s 17th district and others, provided $1.375 billion for the border wall and ample funding for ICE. Furthermore, Granger voted against legislation that would overturn President Trump’s declaration of national emergency that provided a further $6.7 billion in funding for border wall construction. In addition, rules issued by the Trump administration in August 2019 blocked Title X funds from going to organizations that provide or promote abortions (including Planned Parenthood). Furthermore, Granger has a reliably conservative voting record. For example, she voted to support the Tax Cut and Jobs Act (which lowered tax rates across the board, doubled the standard deduction, and eliminated Obamacare’s onerous individual mandate), the American Health Care Act( which made conservative reforms to Medicaid like applying per-capita spending limits and allowing states to impose work requirements and which enabled states to waive the essential benefits and community rating regulations), a 20-week abortion ban, Kate’s law( which imposed mandatory minimum sentences on illegal immigrants who have repeatedly crossed the border without authorization), measures to remove taxpayer funding from sanctuary cities and abortions and a continuing resolution that would have authorized $5.7 billion in border wall funding. Few or no democrats supported any of these measures. Granger is a conservative republican, and she does not deserve to smeared as a Democrat.
